4k
A new television resolution is coming out in the near future. What we call “HD” television right now is in the resolution 1080p or 1080i. 1080 is the number of lines that the screen has. 4k resolution is the new technology that is coming out soon. 4k will have 4320 lines, that means it will be 4x as clear as what we call HD now.

Movie cameras are already recording movies in 16k resolution, that is 16x better than the HD that we watch! But the problem is, it takes a ridiculous amount of memory to store a picture that clear, and it takes a very powerful DVD or Blu-Ray player to even play it.

Television’s max broadcasting resolution at the moment is 1080i. It will take quite a bit of time for the companys to upgrade they picture that they send out. It took them 1-2 years to upgrade to the 1080i. Other than that the blu-ray movies that come out will be in much better quality, the reason blu-ray is able to produce much better picture than DVD is because, the disc can hold 50gb of memory instead of only 14gb.
Besides the time that it will take for the standard viewer to see the 4k in daily television, the T.V.’s that will have the capability of 4k resolution will be very expensive. If a t.v. right now costs $1500, then the 4k equivalent t.v.would cost upwards of $3000-$4000.
